design inspiration

This is a funky wall on the 2nd/3rd (can't remember) floor at The Bay in downtown Vancouver. The walls around this display are made from blocks of wood and plexi. The clothing brand hidden away in this area of the store is called The Room. They were recently featured in the Grandville St window displays of The Bay. They are an upscale brand with lots of awesome cocktail style dresses. Awesome stuff.

I mega love this store ! The National Assembly of Text is located on Main St in Vancouver.

Club Monaco on Robson St. has switched things up again. I love collections and this store is always bringing it !

On my way to class today, I deliberately walked passed TNA because I wanted to take a picture of the tree exhibit in the window. I was sad to see that it had been taken down and some workers were building something else. When I walked passed again, later in the day, this guy had been assembled. Its a media piece. Very clever !

this mosaic tile decorates the exterior of the aritzia store in Pacific Center Mall. can you believe so my care and beauty went into the planning of a mall store ? so high end ! i love the random shapes. i am having a love afair with triangles -- so feminine, so 70- 80s, so tribal, so great these pictures were taken inside the club monaco store on Robson Street. these books make me go weak at the knees. i wish i had gotten a closer up shot, because the texture and subtle differences in white and so lovely. if you are around, you must check it out !

this weekend my mother came to vancouver to visit me. on sunday afternoon we got our flea market on. we picked up a bunch of vintage china plates. then, i hung them over my stove in my apartment. love, love, love them. thanks for a great afternoon mom !

fashion !!!

COPPER in jewelry is starting to pop up in all over the streets of vancouver. in the past three days i have seen about 7 copper watches -- on men and women. i went on a mission to find where all these vancouver fashionistas are picking them up and today i found the store-- aldo accessories of course. you can pick one up yourself for $40 (not online, or else i'd include a pic). copper doesn't go so well with my pale skin and blonde hair or else i would be all over it !

i'm still a fan of gold !! unfortunately, i'm not loving gold prices, which is why i will always be a fan of silver -- the peoples metal !! silver jewelry is one of my favourite souvenirs while traveling about :)

the louis vitton store on burrard is so cool right now. i'm absolutely loving this window display !

also, on my walk to school this morning-- simple elements on the streets of downtown vancouver are being altered slightly to look like san francisco. there must be a tv show/ movie being filmed !

Last Sunday was too nice not to spend it outside. andrew and i found a patio (with a heater) and ordered a couple pitchers. hooray spontaneous sunday date night !

CAPTAIN'S LOG

march 19, 2012. why, oh why, is it still SNOWING in vancouver ?

this doesn't sit well with me. I like my marches warm and bootless. I want the option of an open toe. weatherman, mother nature, don't you hear me ?

i was waiting for the light today, and the nice old lady next to me told me that its a high of 24c in winnipeg, freaking manitoba. when the walk sign illuminated, we continued in the same direction, at the same speed. every time the old lady saw a patch of snow at the base of a tree she pointed it out to me, "look there's snow".

here in vancouver, we are growing patches of snow. gimme some springtime please.

fyi, this photo wasn't actually taken today, or even in vancouver. i tricked you.

i took it the morning i woke up in toyko. it snowed there too. either way, its snow. you get the point.

studio: 1210 jervis i just spent 7 weeks on the road/air/sea. i had an ammazzzing time, but man, its good to be back to what's comfortable -- the organized chaos that is an artist's studio. feels like home to me.

This is what is happening in the windows of Vancouver today-- on my walk between work and home.

Aritzia. The iphone didn't capture the best part -- the planes.

Club Monaco. Reusing those white plates again. I want to do this in my house-- only a lot different -- I want to hang them "right side up" and I want the plates to be from Anthropologie because they are a mix of beautiful and fun (aka octopus print !).

I'm BBAAAACCK from Asia boys and girls.

Back with a tan and this funky new nail colour. I love it, big time !! Its like a defused PEACH NEON colour. Paired with MINT, I'd say they are the hot colours of the season. I want more (travel goodness and things in this colour).
